This could be slightly pointless, but there is no harm in giving it a go.
Women's leathers, or body armour? Anyone know if there is any chance of getting some second hand/cheapish? I follow Trademe a lot for this stuff, but can never find much just for us woah-mans.
Any help, advice, etc will be greatly appreciate.
Thanks again guys of NNO. =D

well it depends on your
well it depends on your size...unless you're totally going for that womanly fitted look, a set of smaller men's leathers will be sweet. but, unless you can try them on it's real hit or miss.
body armour is designed to take the impact of falls, not save your skin sliding down the road at speed. so, leathers all the way. the less movement/tighter fit the better, otherwise friction burns can occur if you go down.
i've got a 1-piece somewhere here that someone can probably have...too small for me (6'2"). not perfect quality of course but that's what gaffer tape was invented for! :)
ultimately if you're really hauling ass it's worth the $800 or so for a new cheap quality suit rather than watching your flesh fall off.
If you can get to a cycle
If you can get to a cycle shop that sells leather, go in and try some on to get an idea of wot is the perfect size for you. otherwise check out the sizing chart at

this should give you an better idea. I found that leathers give you peice of mind in knowing that if you fall, you'll get to keep all your skin. They saved my ass from lethal road rash when i crashed at ruapehu,I may have smashed my knees to peices but didn't have so much as a scratch to show for it(travaling at around 80) and only Seth knows how far i slid across the road b4 hitting the guard rail. And my leathers were very very tight fitting, bordering on interfering with my ability to procreate.
THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS "I USED TO SK8"
I thought maybe smaller
I thought maybe smaller men's would be the way to go. Until I'm bothered to find measure tape, I'm 5'5" and def have the woman figure going on. I like long skates on the beach, and romantic dinners, while skating. BK will do.
Speedy, every time I hear your story I cringe. I imagine your knees like mashed potatoes. Hope they heal fast!
Thanks for the help, guys. =]
smaller mens, not so much
My wife picked up a set of leathers for motorcycle riding a few years back in a small men's size. Apparently small men don't tend to sport the lovely curves of a woman's hips and chest at any scale; needless to say the suit sits in our closet waiting to be resold. Not saying it's a 100% fail but I'd be wary if you don't have a chance to try before you buy.
