Hi Guys,
As I think in NZ, we are now quite a bunch of longboarders, I think the time to have more races is here! I've decided to organize a race in Queenstown.
It will be a DH race on an Outlaw format. 2 Riders per run, each win give you a point, and the rider who have collected the most of points by the end of the day will be declared winner of the 2010 Queenstown outlaw race.
We found with Alex a perfect road to race on. It's a new subdivision near Arrowtown (10 minutes drive from Queenstown). The course lenght is 750m long with butter smooth sealing, and top speed expected should be around 75Km/h. It's a private road, with no cars, and It's actually the Queenstown Lake disctrict who is looking after it. The farmer who live at the bottom of this road (and just sold the land the road is build on) is longboarder friendly, so we should have no trouble racing.
As the road is in the middle of nowhere (access via a gravel road), their is barely no cars around their.
The race track is fast, but easy as their is no hard technical corners, so this race is accessible for riders of any level from beginner++ (need to be abble to stop if required, and handle a minimum of speed).
Riders are responsible for their own safety, and Helmet and gloves are compulsory (knee/elbow pads.. recommended)(I've got a few spare helmets and gloves for the ones who would need it)
For the ones who don't have a car/don't want to drive. Queenstown is easily accessible by bus from Te Anau, Dunedin, Christchurch... and by flight (check at cheap deals on internet) for the ones who would like to make the trip from North Island. If needed I can go to town to drive you up to the race spot.
