I got my board for 400 and it seems like it aint the kind of board im looking for.
not sure if its the parts on it or just me. I use it as a mainly commuter, i travel round uni on it so having good turning is essential (mine doesnt at the moment) but there are lots and lots of hills round my place and i go pretty damn fast down so it would also need to be stable. at the moment ive been getting speed wobbles down the hills around my place but i am a noob so thats probably why.
my board: http://www.zumiez.com/sector-nine-desert-cosmic-longboard.html
i paid 400 for it and it seems to cost a shit load less, did i get ripped off?

eh
not the best board for 400.
i had the same board for my first board. just keep with it and ride it till it breaks. speed wobbles may seem like the board but it's all mind over matter. Keep shredding gnar on that thing when u can afford an upgrade do some research.

thanks, yeah doesnt seem as great as i hoped it would be.
if i was to upgrade it, what should i go for first? the trucks, wheels? etc?
My mate has Paris trucks and his board was fun as to ride, although it was a lot shorter so maybe thats why.

it will be much faster, more stable and just better all round. Unless you are wearing flip-flops.
in which case take off the flip-flops.
on a serious note, how flexy is it? cos it its not too bad i'd chop some of the tail off....

im not too keen on cutting my board, i have no idea how to do it and i kinda like the shape.
what kind of brushings should i get?
venom
get a standard set of bushings from venoms ( 2 barrels 2 cones) they come in packs of 1 barrel 1 cone so you'll have to buy 2.
you could also get barrels all around which will give u a more stable ride (2 barrels on top and 2 barrels on bottom) they sell these in packs aswell

Its not a bad board, but its not for the style your into i dont think.
If your into awesome carving, then try original boards, you cant get better turning trucks than theres. If not,
try buying second hand. itl be cheaper, and usually the boards are in great knick anyway.
Just keep up the stoke with whatever board you ride! =]

will i notice a difference in how my board handles?
Will it be better to carve on it or is it a stiff bushing good for just going downhill?
etc?

Barrels are good stable
Barrels are good stable bushings
Cones are bushings that offer a better carve feel.
U'll be able to carve with barrels don't worry they're great bushings.
