Speedboard recommendations please?

Im looking at maybe getting a speedboard. currently have a Dervish flex 2 which Im not too comfortable with when it comes to DH so thought I mite consider buying a stiffer speedboard. any recommendations? and does anyone sell Rayne boards in NZ?

Lots of NZ Choices

Your best bet is a NZ made board unless you want to pay heaps in shipping as there isn't many dedicated speedboards aviable from other companies in NZ. Bestboards used to stock Rayne but Nacho has moved overseas. Lostboy.co.nz sometimes has Evos in stock

All the top builders in NZ have really good speedboards; Uglie Carnie, Sugarboards,Bombardier and Pulse.

I am currently riding an one of Jestahs uglie carnie protos from his personal stash and would recommend it. All his boards push the boundaries and I think the only guy that makes W concave boards in NZ at the moment.
Ive also seen many of Will from sugarboards race series boards and one of the early Protos of Bombardier speedboard and also recommend them.

I suppose it comes down to what you want dropthrough, topmount, wood, carbon standard concave or W concave, price then you can pick where you want to get it from.

Cant comment about Pulse as I havent seen them in person or know anyone that has ridden them.

Check out www.sugarboards.co.nz and http://www.bombardierlongboards.co.nz/ most of there models are there. Email Jestah through his contact details in the vendor section

Bombardier

Ive got a bombardier b2 dropthru in bamboo and its excellent. Though if your after a dedicated speedboard you would probably want their pywood model with concave for extra stiffness.

I have a proto

I have a proto that is the same as the one DG is riding for a good price. How heavy arre you?

gotta sector 9 sunset and

gotta sector 9 sunset and that works great

a little springy but i thats what i learned around

I'm getting a pulse

I'm getting a pulse speedboard made right now, shouldn't be too far away so I'll post up when it's here.

ignore

wrong thread ugh

pulse

u hav ridden my pulse so u know roughly wat to expect but i wud say they are one of the better options for price and customization. the fact that he is only really making proto'sat the mo means any board u get from him will be quite cheap and u can ask him to make pretty much anything for u (for wat you are willing to pay) if u want pure carbon and foam with W concave and all the bits and bobs he can make it for u at a price. he advantage being u can choose exactly wat u want there's not many others in nz that wil do that.

will might not concur to what i am saying but from my dealings with him that is wat ibeleive would be possible.

man i love ranting. =)

new builder

Im sorry but i have to step in, as a composite fabricator by trade i have to make people aware about buying protos... They are EXACTLY that, a test to see IF the board is strong enough to stand up to the beating that DH will give it!

I have never ridden a pulse BUT i have spent over 10 years building boards, you name it i have built with it, carbon, bamboo, foam, honey comb, kevlar, silk and the list goes on and on. I have also seen MANY of my boards fail! This is a good thing on the test bench but at speed going into a hard corner with up coming traffic and little room to escape is the last place you want to find out that a new laminate was not up to the job. when i sell proto i do tell people to TRASH it at low speed in non critical situations untill they are sure it will hold up to riding at high speeds.

Not to bust your boards down Pulse, you make some ok stuff but as a builder you are still getting your head around what works and what wont which is a rad and very rewarding process but it is good to to know that should your board fail and bust a rider you will feel like a big poo head ( i know i did but luckly i was the one who ended up impacting a parked car after the tail of a board snapped due to a bad batch of glue)

yes i have offered a proto but only after i have seen the same board ridden by my test pilots in the ak (big respect dan for putting your body on the line, speedy are you able to be my biger rider cause i think you might be able to brake it!)

any way just an other ramble from chief safety officer and head cripple
