any easy and effective ways to keep em clean and fast
well depends eh if u have
well depends eh if u have steel bearings without detachable insides then ur pretty much hopeless so id say stay out of the rain... or on the other hand if u have a detachable inside u can give them a quick lube and ur all sweet.
but pretty much if u wanna keep em fast stay out of the rain... ive lost about 4 sets due to me being a retard and thinking it would be sweet.

if you just throw some lube in there the grit will still be in there and grinding away on the bearing, give them a proper clean and lube and bearing can really last.
Petrol
A website infomed me that paint thinner was the way to go to keep your bearings clean. unfortunately at 16 I dont just happen to have access to paint thinner. would petrol work?

Orange cleaner
Ok... here is what i dig:
go get you some orange cleaner, natural stuff, easy on the earth and you stuff (i use mr muscle refills) cover the bearing with this straight, shake, shake, shake, turn around, shake and your done! flush them out with lots and lots and lots of hot water and you can now use some dish washing detergent if you can be assed, RINSE SUPER WELL so there is not orange cleaner or detergent. This process brakes down the lube totally so any trapped crap is washed away, then the detergent will help with whats left (most of the time i skip that) wash them gets rid of the cleaner and then
go find your hair dryer and use that to blow dry them and if you do all of this within a hour or two ( DONT LET THEM SOAK OVER NIGHT) then they will never rust and only do it to bearing that you can take the sides off.
I find that this get them cleaner than any solvent, is cheap but most of all makes me feel a little less stink when i think about the fish that have to live in our solvents...
